　It`s been a long time since cell phones were carried around only for making calls. They`re used for scheduling, taking pictures, sending email messages, and text messaging.

　A man from Hawaii, Clyde Shiigi, wants to take text messaging a step further. He’s invented a cell phone with a screen that allows you to write and draw handwritten messages or pictures. You can create these with your finger or a stylus(that hard-pointed pen-shaped instrument). He has a patent for the new technology.

　And to transform that kind of communication into something more permanent, we can employ Kia Silverbrook and Tobin King`s cell phone printer. Phones with their patent can print out messages using their microchip-controlled printer.

　휴대전화를 단지 전화걸기 위해 들고 다니던 것은 이미 오래전 이야기다. 이제는 휴대전화로 일정관리를 하고, 사진을 찍으며, 이메일 그리고 문자 메시지를 보낸다.

　하와이에 사는 클라이드 시지는 사람이 문자 메시지 보내는 것을 한 단계 더 발전시키려 하고 있다. 그는 손으로 직접 메시지를 쓰거나 그림을 그려 보내는 것이 가능하게 해주는 화면이 장착된 휴대전화를 고안해 냈다. 이러한 종류의 메시지들은 손가락이나 끝 부분이 단단한 펜 모양의 기구를 사용해 만들어 낼 수 있다. 시지는 이 새로운 기술로 특허를 받았다.

　이같은 형태의 메시지를 좀 더 영구적인 형태로 남기길 원한다면, 키아 실버크룩과 토빈 킹이 제작한 휴대전화용 프린터를 사용하면 된다. 이 특허기술을 사용한 전화기를 이용하면 마이크로칩으로 제어되는 프린터로 메시지를 출력할 수 있다.
