　Jenny: Did they catch those thieves yet?

　James: Yeah, the police finally nabbed them.

　Jenny: What`ve you heard about the details?

　James: There were four of them and they broke into the Sony Store at the COEX Mall. They stole about a bunch of laptop computers in broad daylight. The thing is that the store clerks didn`t even know what had happened until the thieves had walked all the way out of the mall!

　Jenny: That sounds a bit funny. Were the clerks blind?

　James: Yeah, right. I think they must`ve been busy talking to customers or something.

　

　A: 그 도둑들이 체포되었니?

　B: 경찰들이 결국은 체포했어.

　A: 구체적으로 말해 볼 수 있겠니?

　B: 4명의 일당들이 백주 대낮에 코엑스 몰에 있는 소니 점에 들어가서, 다량의 노트북 컴퓨터를 훔쳤대. 점원들은 그 도둑들이 코엑스 몰을 완전히 빠져나가고 나서야 알았다지 뭐야.

　A: 이상하다. 점원들이 장님이었니?

　B: 그러게. 그들은 다른 고객들과 대화중이었나봐.

　

　‘broad’는 ‘넓은’이라는 뜻 이외에 ‘훤히 밝은’의 뜻이 있다. 즉 ‘daylight(낮)’를 강조해서 ‘훤한 낮에, 백주 대낮에’라는 뜻이다.

　

　thief : 도둑 nab : 체포하다

　break into : 침입하다 a bunch of : 한 다발의
