Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen`s contribution to modern technology on earth hasn`t seemed to satisfy his sense of curiosity. He`s rich, but has enough imagination to support the search for aliens.

Allen donated $11.5 million to the research and development phases of the Allen Telescope Array, a network of 350 radio telescopes that will be built in cooperation by SETI (the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute) and the Radio Astronomy Laboratory of the University of California at Berkley.

Last week, Allen pledged to deliver an extra $13.5 million to the construction of the ATA, which SETI claims will have the ability to search for and receive signals from advanced civilizations in the galaxy. The first network of 32 telescopes is due to be finished this year.
