Chan: Susan, Sept. 2 is the 35th anniversary of a very important invention. Do you know which one?

Susan: Of course…the Internet! I can’t believe it was 1969 when the team of computer scientists at UCLA created the link between two computers.

Chan: Email came a few years after that, but the World Wide Web wasn’t available until 1990.

Susan: It’s astounding how much the Internet has changed the way we live.

Chan: And they’re still working on improving it-trying to make it faster!

Susan: And to meet demands for smooth multimedia functions. I think the development of the Internet will never stop.

찬: 수잔, 9월 2일은 아주 중요한 발명이 35주년을 맞아. 그게 뭔지 알아?

수잔: 물론 알지… 인터넷이잖아. UCLA의 컴퓨터 학자들이 컴퓨터 두 대를 연결해 주는 링크를 만들어 낸 게 1969년이었다니 믿을 수가 없군!

찬: 이메일이 등장한 건 그 후로 몇 년 후였지만 ‘WWW’가 등장한 건 1990년이 되어서 였어.

수잔: 인터넷은 우리가 사는 방식을 놀라울 정도로 바꾸어 놓았어.

찬: 그리고 그걸 더욱 더 개선하기 위해 노력하고 있지―속도를 더 빠르게 하기 위해서!

수잔: 원활한 멀티미디어 기능 수행에 대한 요구를 충족시키기 위해서도 노력하고 있고. 인터넷의 발전은 계속 될 것 같아.
