Industries that produce digital products can look forward to a reinforcement of copyright laws that protect them. The FBI is going to work with organizations such as the Recording Industry Association of America, to create an anti-piracy seal. Similar to the warning that appears at the beginning of a VHS tape, the seal could appear on the surface of a CD or in the form of a pop-up icon during the installation of software.

The warning will not only deter people from stealing copyrighted materials, it will also ensure the material`s status as copyright-protected, indisputable in a court of law. The label will warn consumers that they could receive up to five years in prison and a fine of $250,000 for copyright infringement.

디지털 제품 생산업체들이 그들을 보호해주는 저작권법의 강화를 기대할 수 있게 되었다. 즉, 미국 연방수사국 FBI가 미 음반산업협회와 같은 기구들과 협력하여 불법복제 금지 표시를 만들 계획이다. 비디오 테이프를 틀었을 때 앞부분에 나오는 경고문과 유사한 이 표시는 CD 표면에 부착되거나, 컴퓨터 프로그램 설치 시 팝업 아이콘으로 뜨게 될 것이다.

이 경고문은 저작권 보호를 받는 자료를 사람들이 도용하지 못하도록 할 뿐만 아니라, 자료가 저작권의 보호를 받는 다는 법률상의 위치를 확고히 해줌으로써 법정에서의 논란 소지를 없애주게 될 것이다. 이 표시는 소비자들에게 저작권을 침해할 경우 징역 5년형, 또는 25만 달러의 벌금형을 받을 수 있다고 경고하게 된다.
