　While their competitors are waiting for big news about huge wireless enterprise-application deployments, savvy companies have been running pilots of bite-sized mobile apps that may give them an edge in the marketplace.

　According to a recent Yankee Group survey, 37 percent of large enterprises either already have launched or are testing such applications. Another 14 percent plan to implement wireless access to data in the next 12 months, and another 14 percent plan to do so within two years.

　These figures dispel the myth that wireless enterprise apps are not ready for prime time, Yankee`s Eugene Signorini told NewsFactor`s CIO Today Magazine. But corporate executives continue to hang onto another myth: that effective wireless applications must be enormous and used by everyone in a company.

　경쟁기업들이 거대한 기업용 무선 응용프로그램 배포에 대한 소식을 기다리고 있는 동안 소식에 밝은 기업들은 시장에서 유리한 위치를 차지할 수 있는 소형의 이동 응용프로그램을 시험가동하고 있다.

　최근 양키그룹의 조사에 따르면 37%의 거대기업 역시 이미 이런 응용프로그램에 착수했거나 시험 중인 것으로 나타났다. 14%의 기업은 향후 12개월 내 데이터에 무선접근을 실시할 계획이고 14%는 2년 안에 실시할 계획이다.

　이런 현상은 기업용 무선 응용프로그램은 시기상조라는 통념을 사라지게 한다고 양키그룹의 유진 시뇨리니가 뉴스팩터의 ‘CIO 투데이 매거진’에 밝혔다. 하지만 기업 경영자들은 아직 효율적인 무선 응용프로그램은 거대하고 기업의 모든 사람이 이용해야 한다는 믿음에 매달리고 있다.
