　Windows Worm Spreading Rapidly

　윈도 웜 빠르게 확산

　

　IT specialists at businesses, educational institutions and other organizations throughout the U.S. have been working feverishly since Monday afternoon to thwart a worm that exploits a vulnerability in Microsoft’s Windows operating system, but it continues to spread.

　Known as ‘Blaster’ ‘MBlaster’ or ‘Lovsan’, the worm takes advantage of a recently discovered flaw in the Distributed Component Object(DCOM) service port, which is included in a Remote Procedure Call component of Windows that enables computers to share data.

　After entering a machine, the worm propagates itself by downloading and running the Msblast.exe file. It then seeks out and attacks other systems via the Internet, causing computers to crash or congesting network systems. Rebooting the machine apparently kills the worm on some machines.

　미국 전역에 있는 기업의 IT 전문가와, 교육 학회 및 여타의 기관들은 월요일 이후로 마이크로소프트의 윈도 운용체계의 취약성을 이용하는 웜을 없애기 위해 열심히 노력하고 있지만 이 웜은 계속 확산되고 있다.

　‘Blaster’ ‘MBlaster’ ‘Lovsan’으로 알려진 이 웜은 윈도에서 자료를 공유할 수 있도록 해 주는 원격 절차 호출 구성요소에 포함된 디콤 서비스 포트에서 최근에 발견된 결점을 이용한다.

　이 웜은 컴퓨터에 침입한 후 Msblast.exe 파일을 다운로드하고 실행하면서 개체를 증식시킨다. 그런 다음 인터넷을 통해 다른 시스템을 찾아내어 공격해 네트워크 시스템의 충돌이나 혼잡을 초래한다. 일부 컴퓨터에서는 컴퓨터를 다시 시작하면 이 웜을 없앨 수 있는 것으로 보인다.
