　Network Associates Takes CyberCop Off The Beat

　When Network Associates Inc.’s new CEO, George Samenuk, said he was going to review the struggling network vendor’s overall product line and strategy. He’s focused on re-igniting the company by concentrating on its core products. And it seems that the company’s intrusion-detection software will not be one of those products.

　Network Associates is getting out of the intrusion-detection business, ceding the market space to industry leaders such as Internet Security Systems Inc.

　Network Associates’ intrusion-detection software, CyberCop Monitor, checks incoming and outgoing network traffic so network administrators can detect hackers that invade their network.

　A Network Associates spokeswoman said the company will continue to support customers who are using the product. She also added that the company doesn’t plan to change the status of CyberCop Scanner, which is a security vulnerability assessment application.
