한 아이가 쓴 부모에 관한 글이 서니의 마음을 아프게 합니다.

“한국의 이혼율은 해를 거듭할수록 점점 높아진다”라고 말할 때

“The divorce rate in Korea is getting higher each year.”

Sunny: Listen to this: “My mom and dad divorced two years ago. I stay with my dad and my sister lives with my mom. I always miss my mom when my dad comes home late from work. I feel lonely all the time and I am not happy in general. I wish my family would get back together.”

Luke: Oh that’s sad. I feel sorry for those kids from divorced parents. The divorce rate in Korea is getting higher each year and it’s the kids who have to go through the hardest time.

Sunny: He’s so sweet and behaves well. It’s sad to think of him being alone at home.

Sunny: 들어 봐. ‘부모님은 2년 전에 이혼하셨다. 나는 아빠와 살고 누나는 엄마와 산다. 아빠가 늦게 퇴근할 때마다 엄마가 너무 그립다. 너무 외롭고 행복하지도 않다. 가족이 예전처럼 같이 살았으면 좋겠다.’

Luke: 아, 너무 안됐다. 이혼 가정의 아이들이 너무 불쌍해. 한국 이혼율이 매년 높아지면서 아이들도 힘든 시간을 보내게 됐어.

Sunny: 이 아이는 너무 다정스럽고 예의도 바른데 혼자 있는 걸 생각하니까 안됐어.

루크가 아이를 위로할 수 있는 좋은 방법을 생각해 낸 모양입니다.

Luke: Well, I get off work early on Wednesdays, so maybe I can help him out with English and watch some DVDs.

Sunny: Are you really going to do that for him? You are the sweetest guy ever!

Luke: 내가 수요일에 일이 일찍 끝나니까 영어도 가르쳐 주고 DVD도 같이 보고 그러지.

Sunny: 그럴래? 넌 정말 멋진 친구야!
